"And he said, 'The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground. He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows; he knows not how. The earth produces by itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.'"- Mark 4:26-29

Have you received a promise from the Lord that months or even years later hasn't happened yet. Naturally you begin to question if you actually heard right or if God will ever bring that thing to pass. Of course we can ask him for wisdom, for clarity, and as James says God will give this to us generously without finding fault with us for asking (James 1:5). However, despite this, if we have heard from God, we must wait on him patiently, eagerly, and wholeheartedly.

Trust me, I know.

I recently learned how Chinese bamboo grows. When it is planted, for about 5 years nothing happens. It looks as if the seed is dead. But after year five it grows 90 cm overnight. How crazy is that??? Can you imagine if that farmer dug it up in frustration?

Can you imagine what will happen if you and I dig up our seeds of promise in frustration. What if it was year 4... or 4 and a half years? We would've given up right on the brink of breakthrough just because we didn't see anything happening. Learning about bamboo taught me a few things.

1. Pay less attention to what I can see and more attention to what God has said.

2. When it's time for that promise to spring forth, it grows exponentially because God always gives greater than I can ask, think or imagine.

3. What comes forth will be strong and fortified, instead of the weak plant I wanted with my impatience.

Let God decide the time when your seed will spring forth and bloom. He knows what he's doing.
