What are we feeding ourselves?

Hey, everyone it's been a while since I've made a new blog post! There's just been so much happening lately! I've been thinking a lot about the battle as Christians between our old sinful nature and the new deposit of the Holy Spirit within us.

Ephesians 4:22-24 says, "You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness."

However, the reality is that while the Bible declares that we are new creatures in Christ, we still have a sinful nature that we have to put to death daily. Often times, when we find ourselves wrestling a great deal with our old sin nature we can attribute that of course to our unbelieving and hardened hearts (check out my last post on that!), but we have to ask ourselves what are we feeding ourselves? If we struggle with sexual sin, are we surrounding ourselves with those images, music that suggests that, or putting ourselves in compromising positions? Then of course we're going to continue to struggle! If you're struggling with drunkeness, are you still hanging out with friends for happy hour, but convincing yourself that you'll be able to resist drinking in excess? Worse, as a believer, have you gotten to a place where you justify a sin?

We have to be watchful over not just our behaviors, but over our thoughts. Think about it like Jordan Peele's US. If you knew you had a doppelgänger who was out to kill you and take over your life, would you give them a meal and sit down and chill with them? Nah, didn't think so.
