Prayer is central to the life of believer, not just when you’re praying for God, to provide a spouse, not just when you’re in trouble, not just when you need some more money, or good grades, or a better job, but always and in every situation. Where we get things mixed up is that prayer is a lot more about listening than asking. Sure, we are commanded to ask, but how often do we spend dedicated time in prayer listening?
Prayer is the opportunity to release all that’s bogging down our minds so that finally, we can hear what’s on God’s heart. It’s in these moments that I’m often able to hear the adjustments that I need to make in my life so that I can be molded into the image of Christ. During prayer is where I often hear the Lord showing me how I can be salt and light, be a blessing to those around me, to trust him more, it’s where I hear his voice inspiring me with ideas on what to write so that I can bring glory to his name. Prayer is everything.
Prayer has led to every good blessing I’ve ever received, whether it was my prayers or the prayers of others. Prayer has helped bring me through the most difficult and challenging moments.
“ I pray because the need flows out of me all the time, waking and sleeping. It doesn’t change God, it changes me.”- C.S. Lewis
